Wow. As an evangelical, conservative Christian, this greatly troubles me. If/When Donald Trump falls, he will bring a lot of conservative Christians with him. President Trump us not the solution to America's cultural decline, but a symptom of it.
One star seems to mean "I hate it." That's a bit strong. Rather, I strongly feel this book does a huge disservice to the American people. It is misleading from the get-go. Full disclosure I am a committed Quaker (and a Roman Catholic to boot). Perhaps the slim volume reinforces the convictions of fringe Evangelicals. I however do not wish to see the world come to an end. Is this an unreasonable fear, given Trump's provocative postures, fundamental insecurity, and loose-canon discipline? I don't think so. Clearly, Trump is not a man of faith. To suggest otherwise is patently false. The book should be entitled "The Making of the AntiChrist." He is indeed more than un-Christian (which he is); he is anti-Christian values and only seems to care about "Christian" votes. It is not clear that the author/s realize this, which really calls their credibility into question. Fox News contributor/s? Oh, yeah. You don't even need to get to their bios to see that in every page. Yes, they drank the Koolaid. It's sad.
The fact that Mr. Robertson was upfront about President elect Donald Trump not being his first choice was a good reason to keep reading. The fact that he said he will pray for the nation is good.
Very encouraging book regarding the faith of Donald Trump. I can relate to what Mike Robinson says about Donald Trump a bible collector, a person who has failed morally in life in his past but is on the road to living a Christ-filled life, a believer. The quote from James Dobson, "I remember when I accepted Christ, it took me two years to begin to understand what God did in me" is a perfect example of how God begins a work in us and continues that work as we come to know Him more. What a blessing! I agree with Robinson...God chose this man to be our nation's leader. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I look forward to seeing Mike Robinson's next book "The Success of Donald Trump as a Christian Leader", or whatever he determines to title the book. I believe we will see the evidence!
Loved the book. It gave me a better understanding of our President. I now have even more faith in him. If the media would just allow him to do his job, amazing things could get done.
Most of Mike's books are based around Christian apologetics and epistemology. This book is different and political. Robinson is honest in his personal views of Trump, stating how Trump was not necessarily his first choice, but glad for his election. Robinson states he will pray for his leadership and staff, as all professing Christians should for leaders.
Robinson addresses the issue if Trump is truly a biblical Christian and born again. Ultimately, God only knows for certain, let alone any other human being. If so, his sanctification will lead to His knowledge of God and likeness of Christ.
Trump represents the Republican Party. A political party that mostly represents biblical values. Trump may have represented the party poorly during his campaign, however has established the Republican Party as an authority in the United States again. Hilary would promote sinful and unbiblical values if she became a president.
Robinson quotes atheistic author Ayn Rand. She states "the world has never been in need for answers to problems while proclaiming no answers are possible." The Christian worldview however, has answers to all moral problems in the world today. God has revealed Himself and His law to all people, cultures, and societies. God has established how the world should behave in correspondence to whom He is in the Bible.
Harrison Enten is also quoted. In summary he states "Trump has a better chance of being in a Home Alone movie or playing in the NBA then running for presidency. Most liberals and intellectuals believed Trump would never enter the race." Interestingly and ironically secularist did not condemn Obama for attending Jeremiah Wright's church, but very discomforted by Trump's proclamation of defending Christian values.
Robinson exposes how people condemn Trump's heart on social media. Biblically, only God can judge hearts, Professing Christians should judge actions, but not hearts or intentions. Christians unfortunately do not have an analogical view within their epistemology as they should. They do not see a distinction between "hearts" and "actions" or "behavior." If Christians are against Trump or basic leaders they should pray for their professing enemies (Mt 544).
It took God over a decade to reach Saul in scripture. Saul spent time in Arabia before becoming born again. Saul began ministering as "Paul" (Gal 1). Saul becoming Paul is a great example of how God may wait a long period of time to work in individuals. Often, Christians expect absolute or immediate change in people. Sanctification is established throughout a Christian's life time. God may make large or small changes depending on His decree. If Trump has truly been born again, God is working in ways nobody can observe. Fruit to produce in his life may take years. Honest Christians should relate to the time process of God's sanctifying work.
This book is lengthy. It goes into more depth of Trump's history and politics. This title honestly appealed to me in degree and was unique. I recommend this to Christians of any political party. As they should learn how to pray for authorities and think on a level of presuppositions.
